Skirt in Linen

This is a pattern from the 80's well used and well worn.....Butterick 3457, style D, size 14-16-18. Linen always is a pleasure to sew even though it hangs all crinkly. I couldn't find a belt to thread through the loops so settled for a red sash for the pic. Otherwise the skirt would have just looked plain boring hanging there.

I lined the skirt too with a cotton type lining, usually I make it without lining...

The lens on my camera must be dirty I can see splotches...
Dah! it's my computer screen it's dirty....Better clean it!

Babies and Butterick

Butterick 5896 is a 'blast from the past' I first used this pattern about six years ago....The sewing pattern is looking rather jaded and crumpled now, but nothing an iron can't fix. I sewed View C, it's a long sleeved top and the fabric I chose was a lycra/cotton blend (stretch). This fabric was sourced from Global Fabrics ( I love that place) and it has stood the test of time very well. This is the third baby to wear this top......

 A very easy (old) pattern to sew and a very simple top to put onto a baby or small child. You get value for your dollar with this sewing pattern as there are a range of styles to chose from to sew. Unfortunately I don't think you can get it anymore...but probably it can be found second hand.

Summer Wrap Around

This is the second time I have sewn this pattern, it's a fairly old Butterick pattern. I was pleased how it turned out, but I must say the original one I made was much better....sadly it had seen better days and has been given away to charity. I've always regretted that as the material was very flowing and an unusual tie dyed brown shade.

The fabric I used here wasn't very expensive and is quite a stiff cotton, vegetable dyed I think........ I've washed it a couple of times and it's getting softer (which is a good thing).....A good summer holiday skirt and a very good cover up for the beach........
