Big Beach Bag

I've just finished sewing my white cherry oil cloth fabric. It's been in my stash for ages. I didn't have enough to make the bag all in white so I used scraps left over from the cushion cover I made.

Was the tutorial easy to follow?
It was very easy to follow I just printed it out and followed the instructions. My bag didn't have as high pockets on one side as in the tutorial, I ran out of fabric. I also made my straps thinner because I ran out of white fabric as well.

When the beach bag was finished it was a perfect size for the beach. Though my pockets were not perfect I accidentally cut one side of the pockets too short (I think I was half asleep!).  But I sewed the two pieces of fabric together to make do.

Would I make this again?
Yes I would and what I really like is my bag is waterproof and it does makes the hassle of sewing oil cloth worthwhile.
What I'd Change:
Next time I will make the pockets a bit deeper.
Changes I did Make:
I put a zipped pouch, attached by a strap to the side seams for make-up etc. I also attached a ring to a strap inside so you can clip your keys onto it.

Making a Box Cushion the Easy Way

I've put this project off for ages and I've spent so much time procrastinating.  How am I going to cover this square sponge foam? It's for the girls, so the older one can sit at the table at her place. Of course I volunteered to sew and cover it, I'm the sewer in the family...Then I panicked and thought 'how am I going to do this with oilcloth?'....I've never made a square box cushion cover with oilcloth before and I knew it was going to be a tricky sew....

Fabric: About 1/2 metre of Oilcloth

I thought I had this sussed! I wound a rubber band
around my Bernina 801 machine foot so the
glue would  really stick. UHU glue fixes
 everything right? No it doesn't, the plastic
 was still lifting!

Finally I finished it...What an effort!
I'm thankful I made the easier version. Never
again will I try this with oil cloth...

'Trouble is a friend! He was a total nuisance, he ate the
 Dacron stuffing, he knocked over my sewing box
and started eating the sewing machine chord..and
 out of spite he then sunk his sharp teeth into my
oil cloth sewing box.  Now it has two puncture
holes :(

Sewing up Scraps

I'm procrastinating and putting off covering a square cushion with oil cloth. I know it's got to be done but I'm avoiding it.....

I've been playing around with scraps of oil cloth and I made this little bag. It's nothing special and rather a simple design......But I made it with the purpose of collecting up all my make-up that I leave lying around.

It's very easy to make as it only has a velcro closure and it's turned under at the top and sewn. I cut out a rectangle of oil cloth on the fold,  then I just sewed up the side seams. Because the bottom is on the fold I just sewed the corners. This made the bag more square at the bottom so it could stand alone.

I like that it is semi-open

New Sewing Case

This sewing case is made out of a type of oil cloth, it's much bigger than my other. I fancied it so much  I  just had to buy it!

Strawberry Lunch Bag

I used the rest of my oil cloth stash to make a little lunch bag...It's kinda cute. If you google ' making a lunch bag" you will find plenty of tutorials out there to chose from. That's what I did, I looked at lots of them and then just used them as a guide...
